I’ve been wanting to share some of the photos from our trip to Maine last summer since we went, so here they finally are!

Chad and I married in Acadia National Park the year before this trip, so we decided to go back to discover things that we didn’t get to do the first time around, and without the wedding planning involved. I have a mix of camera and iphone photos below, but as you can see…there is a lot of beauty in all of the photos.

Our first stop was at the Portland Headlight, which we drove all through the night to get to. Phew! From there it was a scenic route to Mount Desert Island along Route 1. We stopped at a few lighthouses along the way, hiked the famous Jordan Pond and to the top of the “bubbles”, took a fun photography workshop with an incredible landscape artist on the island, listened to the calls of the Loons, took lots of photos, ate some of the best lobster in the world, and simply took in the moments to breathe and reflect on the state that we grew to love.

Yes, it’s worth the trip! Here are 5 things that I would recommend doing if you get the chance to go:

  1. Stop at the Portland Headlight
  2. Eat a lobster roll at Red’s Eats
  3. Drive the Mount Desert Island’s park loop road
  4. Walk the Jordan Pond path
  5. Drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain for sunrise or sunset
