It’s the holiday season and I was wondering how I could give back to the community this year. Knowing that not everyone can afford professional photos, I wanted to think of a way to donate a project to 2 chosen people who would really appreciate a free session this month. So I sent out a post for anyone to nominate someone person fighting a serious illness in November. It didn’t take long to receive more than a handful of nominees, but we eventually narrowed it down to Tammy and Becky!
Tammy is mom of 3 and grandmother of 6 grandchildren who is fighting breast cancer. Her daughter Kayla nominated her with the hope of lifting her spirits with family photos for Christmas. Kayla told me that the photos would mean so much to her because her mom is “a fighter… she knew that every day she woke up and went about her day at her many doctor appointments she had six grandchildren that were cheering her on to get better.” As you can see in the photos, Tammy has a big family of 14! It was such a joy seeing the little ones run around and cling to their grandma. We were very happy to do this for her family and wish Tammy a speedy recovery to overcome her illness.
Becky is a mom of 2 and a grandmother of 2, who I’ve known since I can remember. Annie, her daughter was my closest friend growing up so I spent many days with Becky eating her mac n cheese and homemade health bars. I know, what a combo, but they were some of the many things Becky could whip up and make anyone smile. She’s a lady who dedicated so many summers to our church’s vacation Bible school and was the young adult Sunday school teacher. It was a no-brainer for me to help Becky, and Annie wanted to nominate her with the hopes of giving her photos before her kidney transplant this winter. I’m sure that she will look through the photos many times before and after her recovery time for encouragement and hope!
